June 10, 2006 Event #9 at Famoso Cancelled

With great disappointment, I must announce the CANCELLATION of the June 10th West Coast Corvette Challenge event at Famoso Raceway. The resurfaced track will not be ready in time.

I checked the Famoso website schedule yesterday to find the announcement below:

Due to circumstances beyond our control in the re paving process at Auto Club Famoso Raceway, all of the events scheduled in the month of May have been postponed or cancelled. Keep checking the web site for schedule updates.

When I called the track manager to confirm that the track would be ready to go for all of the June events, I was told that the track would not be ready to open until June 16th...Not good news for WCCC. Today, the message is gone, it just shows new schedule with first event on the 16th.

I currently have no plans to reschedule at Famoso this season. We generally tag along with one of their Summit Series events. There will now be 6 Summit Series events at Famoso, and they are now scheduled for July 1, 2, 15, & 22, and September 9 & 10.
