The 4th scheduled WCCC event of the season was scheduled for the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The winds were really blowing in Las Vegas on Saturday. I was prepared for a miserable day at the track. Winds were so bad that the morning track events were cancelled, and our afternoon/evening event gate opening was delayed while the track management monitored the weather situation before finally deciding to go ahead with the event as scheduled. Winds were still blowing when we started, and intermittently blew in some raindrops over the course of the evening. Never enough to cause more than a few minute delay at any one time. I must add that the winds were practically non-existent by the end of the evening. In spite of the winds and moisture, the LVMS track surface was prepared better than any track I’ve been on. My compliments go out to the LVMS track crew. We had a super turnout from both the regular WCCC folks driving out from Southern California and the local group from the Las Vegas Corvette Association (LVCA). Thanks to everyone for sticking it out during some questionable weather conditions.
