The overall event winner was Dave Dowdell in his ‘85 automatic coupe. Dave earned the A & A Corvette Performance (formerly A & A Corvette Specialties) sponsored Winner trophy and gift certificate for his winning effort. Dave was also the lucky recipient of a semi-final bye run…second race in a row where the eventual winner received a bye run into the final round. Earning the A & A Corvette Performance sponsored Runner-Up trophy and gift certificate was James Holland in his ‘99 automatic coupe.

Congratulations to semi-finalist Linda Reese who earned the Simpson Racing gift certificate for her efforts today. Linda also was the recipient of the first Vapor Trail Vettes sponsored Closest to Dial-In trophy with an 0.047 (14.047 on a 14.00 dial-in). This is our newest trophy category, awarded to the closest to dial in for the first round of eliminations. Mark Davis had the best reaction time of the first round of eliminations with a 0.081 second R/T, and earned the newly sponsored trophy courtesy of NAPA Auto Parts. NAPA also generously provided a trophy, retro-actively to our January Best R/T winner Mike Villeneuve. Low ET for the day goes once again to Anthony Galati from Lake Havasu City with a 9.658 @ 141.33 MPH with his stealth black ‘90. Anthony had both bad and good luck today…in one of his time trial rounds, the throttle stuck wide open on his big block’s carb and his car somehow ended up spinning at the end of the track (very bad), but his car managed to avoid contacting any solid objects like the track guard rails (good news).
Winner David Dowdell

We again had some new faces today as well as the regular cast. I would like to welcome first time WCCC racers John Blanor (’04 Supercharged Z06), Darrel Criswell (‘04 6-spd Vert.), and Brian Rose (’03 Z06). I also would like to welcome returning 2004 WCCC racers Romeo Genico (’98 Auto ‘Vert), Henry Mynatt (’01 Z06).

Hopefully, today’s players will add their own perspective of the days activities. The next WCCC event is scheduled for Saturday, March 19th at LACR. Tentative gate open time is 7:30AM, but stay tuned for final details coming soon.
