After five rounds of racing in his tired C4, Dave Dowdell took home the A & A Corvette Specialties sponsored Winner's trophy. In addition, after having the best R/T in time trials of 0.514, Dave's first elimination round R/T of 0.525 held up as the best of the day (during elimination rounds...) to earn the West Coast Corvettes sponsored Best R/T trophy. Coincidentally, Dave also started out the 2003 season by winning the February race at Fontana's California Speedway.
While not running his usual yellow C3, Bob Blackmon won four rounds to take home the A & A Corvette Specialties sponsored Runner-Up trophy on his first WCCC outing with his Torch Red Z06.
Roman Annunziata lasted through to the semi-final round with his white '78 coupe, and Dan Gorton (first-time WCCC racer) ran the Low ET of 12.255 in an unfortunate second round break out loss.
If we were giving awards for the driver who traveled the farthest to race with us Saturday, it would go to Henry Mynatt, who trekked from Tracy, near Sacramento, in his C5, hitting snow and avoiding a truck that spun out in front of him! (we saw the remnants of the road muck on his nice '01 silver ride!) I'm not sure we can expect Henry to be at every southern California race, but we appreciated his participation. A long as he's a "traveling man" maybe we'll see him at the May WCCC event in Las Vegas!
Next race is March 21 at LACR...Visit our website soon for details.
I did manage to get some photos, so I'll try to get them up as soon as possible.
