FIRST TIMER RICHARD BARBOUR WINS RACE #1 FOR 2004!

2004 Event 1 Results
Winner: Richard Barbour
Runner-Up: Bruce Darley
Semi-Finalist: Steve Navar
Best Reaction Time: Richard Barbour with a .502 light
Low E.T.: Gary Brown with a 12.45 (what do you expect at 2710'?)
For awhile, several of Richard's friends from the Antelope Valley tried to convince him to give drag racing a try. He gave it some thought and decided to see what all of the hoopla was about and so this morning he came out with his buds to try his luck...you know the kind, "beginner's luck"!

The weather was cool and dry. The track was kinda loose, the humidity was 15% and the barometer was steady at around 30.07…as if any of this really matter to first-time drag racer, Richard Barbour!

After five rounds of racing Richard took home the Winner's Trophy...and the Best Reaction Time Trophy after he cut a .502 light in the semi-finals to Steve Navar's .513 light. Did I mention it was a double break-out? We kinda get the feeling that Richard will be signing up for the points race next month! Did I mention that first-time drag racing Richard is 66 years young. Once again, let's hear it for the "young old guys"!

See you all next month! And speaking of which…

FEBRUARY 28TH. AT LACR IS RACE #2 FOR THE SEASON!

This is the second in a series of All-Corvette Drag Racing WCCC events scheduled for this, our third season of racing. This event is open to ANY licensed driver of ANY Corvette, ANY year, ANY model.

Your car may be bone stock, have the usual bolt-ons, be highly modified, or even blown. So long as your car can pass the tech inspection at the track, you can participate in this WCCC event. You can race just for the fun of it or you can race for points AND just for the fun of it! Some race once or twice during the year to try on drag racing or see old friends, while others race part of the year or the entire schedule for points.

Drivers from all levels of experience from the first-timer who has never drag-raced to experienced pros who have thousands of passes down the ¼ mile are welcome. WCCC events are designed to accommodate ALL levels of drag racers. Our more experienced racers will be more than happy to get you started. The main idea is for all of us to have FUN in the world's greatest sports-car and to assist the surviving spouses and children of American firefighters who have died in the line of duty.

REGISTRATION and FEES: $ 35.00 (cash only please - $ 20.00 at the gate and $ 15.00 to WCCC) includes admission to the track, tech card, test and tune, friendly grudge matches, and single-bracket racing for trophies, and other prizes! PLEASE e-mail Gary Brown to let us know if you even think that you might be attending this event as we want to make sure we have enough trophies for our First Round Winners! Half of all drivers will receive a trophy! Gates open at 8:00 a.m.
